k00l = cool  kind of like l337 = leet and n00b = noob

it's haxor talk.  my good buddy and old roommate plays a LOT of counterstrike still, so he told me all this stuff!

something like how i'm CAL-o and he's CAL-i.  he'll be like, pwnag3 n00b!  i'm cal-i haxor!!  l337

i know, lame huh??

I'm well aware of what it means. I just didn't realize that anyone over the age of 13 typed like that anymore.

The kits are able to be split up. and i talked to the owner and he said that if we bought a car kit he would warranty the two seperate sides through two different people. The price would be around 100 a person if you split it.

nice discount, but DDM is still cheapest around...

EDIT: Slim HID kits are $75 on the site, so with discount, you're looking at $60, so equal price to DDM...  But these are only 35W, DDM has the 55W for about the same.  and a lifetime warranty...

Why would I want a projector taller than I am?

:D :D :D  good one!  i don't think the projector housing is COMPLETELY necessary, but it would help out quite a bit.  and there have been discussions about the projector housing, they're just expensive for anything worth it...  like $300+

You can get OEM projector housing pulled from cars equipped with them stock for under $100. The problem is making it look good on a CB.

exactly...  which is why i'll deal with minimizing the glare until a projector housing is cheap and easy to mount...

i am trying to figure out how I want to do mine... I am thinking that eventually I will do a retro fit of an Acura TL projector into some housing...

They have these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-65-74-75-76-77-78-FORD-MUSTANG-/360221896525

But I doubt the projector is even worth it. I will just get a sealed beam conversion housing and run my HIDs in there until I figure out how i want to do my retrofit.

I'll get some pictures of the beam pattern tonight.

Here's how I wired it on my '76 CB550K:

The relay box in the kit has a three-wire H4 plug, the box itself is mounted to the old turn signal buzzer bracket on the headlight ear. I cut the H4 plug off and wired the common to green in the headlight bucket, white (low) to a new switch on the bike, and red (high) to blue in the headlight bucket. The other side of the low switch went to black in the headlight bucket.

The red/black wire in the right hand control was eliminated, it turns off the lights when the starter is engaged.

Red/black from the main harness goes straight to black.

When I turn the ignition on, the headlight stays off. When I flip my new switch on, the headlight fires up. When I flip the dimmer switch to high beam, it switches to high beam. Unfortunately, the high beam switches on and off on its own at random, and the high beam indicator doesn't come at all. I was fairly confident of my wiring job, and getting the headlight on the bucket was a royal pain with all of the wiring, the extra deep HID bulb, and the ballast, so I'm reluctant to pull it off, but I guess I'll have to re-check everything.

It's bright.

Pattern on the garage door:

Low beam. What you're seeing on the brick building is the left half of the beam.

The ignition and headlight switch are along the left downtube under the tank.

hmmmm not bad.... I would definitely aim that headlight down a little bit more. but over all... it has about the same cutoff as a regular halogen... just a WHOLE lot brighter. I am looking into the DDM kit.. If i can save myself some money by going with the DDM kit then that is the way i will go.  but i also don't want to be replacing bulbs and ballasts all the time either.

Justin,

didn't we say the DDM kit has a lifetime warranty?  or was that the other kit we were looking at halving?

nice!  that's great news about the DDM.  i would hope someone selling them for that price could provide a lifetime warranty!  there's no reason quality parts shouldn't last a long time!!
