I've always been afraid of the cops. I wish that wasn't so, but that's the way it is.
One of my best friend's father is chief of police (and a really nice guy). My friend is a security guard. My friend kind of thinks his job is boring.
I've always thought that being a cop would be an interesting job. Not a boring job, if nothing else. And kind of a brotherhood sort of thing (I never see two physicists parked side by side at a gas station chatting it up...).
So I asked my friend why he doesn't become a cop. After all, he's got the perfect in - his dad is the chief.
He said, "Yeah, but all the cops I know are #$%*s."
I said, "That's exactly why you should become one." (Because he knows the difference, and I think would be a really good cop like his father.)
