Topic: Can you fit seals onto stock CB400f exhaust valve guides?

Do you need to purchase aftermarket guides in order to get seals on the exhaust valve guides, or can you just get a set of Viton seals and install them on the stock guides? 

I think I will be tearing back into my top end and I'd love to add seals to the exhaust guides if it's that simple.  I'd rather not take the whole head back to the machine shop to have new guides installed and all that goes with that...  If that's the case, I'll just live with a little smoke

The exhaust guide does not have the profile that retains the seal, so no.

I just broke out my 350f parts book and it shows seals on the exhaust so maybe you could find a cheap 350f head to swap?

Why would you want seals on an exhaust valve guide?

Well, peace of mind I guess.  It'd be easier to tell whether the rings had seated on my fresh top end if I could eliminate the possibility that the bit of smoke I get from time to time was coming from oil coming through the exhaust valves.
