1976 carb jets
« on: July 26, 2010, 06:34:51 PM »
I can't find oversize jets for the '76 model... what's the deal with this year and the lack of carburetor parts?

I've searched and only come up with former and latter years.

K0 thru' K6 jets are interchangeable, all the 'old style' carbs' jets are the same style.... Z1 has loads of 'em all sizes.
If your sure it's a carb problem; it's ignition,

Z1, excellent!

Now, if anyone would be so kind as to help a fellow out in letting me know what size to get?

Currently installed on the bike (1976 K)

Cycle X Headers/Exhaust 4-2-1
Cycle X S1 Camshaft
Cycle X Power Arc Ignition (haven't decided on a ground setting yet, but probably aggressive)
Pod Air filters
Factory Jets (What size are these?)

The bike runs but is occasionally a PITA to start, idles ok, drives moderately OK under low/moderate throttle, bogs under high throttle.

I can figure the tuning out by trial and error but since I have to order jets, I would LOVE to get some guidance on what sets to get.  They're not expensive but they add up, so I'd like to narrow it down to a broad number if I could.

I love you all.

FYI I hate carburetors.

Bump!

I have a place who can get jets for $2.50 a piece, I was wondering if anyone had a similar setup or idea where I could start, then go up and down a size and see where that takes me.

The guy at the shop is familiar with 750s but mostly DOHC models, and couldn't remember the factory SOHC size, he said he's start with 120/125 or so.  I wanted to verify with people who might have the same mods as me before I waste time waiting on shipping.

Word,
I've called Ken before and if you can catch him...he is a wealth of knowledge! Dude has been tweaking Honda's since I was swinging in the sac!

I read this as "Dude was tweaking hondas since he was swingin his sack".

I was a little shocked at first, then I re-read it and realized it wasn't perverted.

Thanks for the advice.

Stock size for yours are #105. Don't see a bore job or head work on your list so I would probably start at around #115 and maybe fiddle with your needle clip also.

I didn't know the jets were stamped with their size so I looked and there are 110s installed now.

Sudco was super helpful for me! The guy was out in the wearhouse measuring jets with a micrometer and all that. Top notch! THEN - he didn't have the right size in stock so he forwarded me to another place. Give them a call if you're stumped!

>1972 CB500 with push in jets and I ended up getting #42 N424-24 pilot jets. #115 mains. (I got pods and a 4 into 1)
