I have some Harley mid-height lace up boots that I sometimes prefer to wear instead of tennis shoes even when I'm not on the bike.  Very comfortable, and you can usually get them at a boot outlet for about $25 less than you'd pay at a stealership.  Guess I'm gonna have to buy a new pair soon, as the "Harley-Davidson" that used to be on the sole is no longer there...or is that a good thing?

Cbjunkie,
Oil stain on the right leg, shifter scuffs on the left toe.  Very nice.  ;)

I wear normal black work boots that match the black leather coat.

I wear a similar pair of boots to your Frye, but they are made by Justin, called Ropers, they are really horse riding boots, but they look right. I want to get a new pair and can't decide what, so I will be interested in the responses to this post.

Jim,

Do you not like the Ropers? I've found that most other boots have soles that are too thick and bulky and, after all, I'm riding not walking or hiking. Riding boots seemed like a more appropriate boot to me, used them years ago and really liked them.

Bob,
I do like the Ropers and they are all leather, which is good and bad. The only problem with the leather 'smooth' soul is that I do not feel that I have a lot of grip on the brake pedal; maybe I should look for a rubber brake pedal cover, like you would have on a car?
Jim.

Don't know if these are available on your side of the pond, but they don't have a leather sole.

Bob,
Thanks. I will look for a similar boot, or maybe get a rubber sole on my Ropers when they need to be replaced, which will be soon!
Jim.

Jim, check out the poll that cbjunkie resurrected about boots.  Lots of responses there, but for my 2 cents Chippewa makes some great riding boots, I have the euro style ones, but Corcorans are the best, IMO.

I usually wear my trusty Sketchers when I go ride.
Not a big fan of "boots". I know the advantages of wearing them, just not a fan...

Good thing about boots is the protection you get fro your ankles, just in case something happens!

Yeah, but are they made from genuine cowboys? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Red Wing work boots with hiking boot laces.  I am convinced my Red Wings (or should I say my former pair) are the reason I still have both feet.  As soon as I could try on new boots, what else would I get? They last forever, too. Hiking boot laces will not break, and they stay tied.

I second the redwing nomination, I've worn out a few pairs over the last 15 years since I first tried on a pair and they are tough.
