I have a 72 cb750k frame and 2 gas tanks. Niether of the tanks was original with the frame. Both tanks appear to be identical and correct early style tanks with right side petcocks.
One of the tanks has several pinholes in the sides and on the bottom (not usable) and it fits properly.
When I mount the usable tank on the frame the front mounts seem to be too far apart (too wide). It doesn't fit tight against the rubbers like the other one. The good fitting one measures approximately 3 3/8" from wall to wall where the rubbers go. The other is about 4 1/4". The exterior of the tank is slightly wider than the other and has a letter "J" on the rear mount. What gives? Is this not a 750K tank?
