'77 750F engine for $100?
« on: March 26, 2010, 07:29:05 AM »
My bike is a '77, but it's basically an F-style tank, side panels & seat/fairing on a K frame with a K engine, single disc in the front, etc. I found this yesterday on my local CL but have no idea if this is a deal or not. What do y'all think?

Are you sure you don't have a 76f that was titled in 77? The 75s and 76s had spoke wheels, single front disk and silver engines. Do you have a disk brake in the rear? If so, you have an early f. If you do happen to have a k, I don't think $100 is too terrible a price for that motor, it could be lower but it's not bad.

Valid point, you don't know this guy, he says it just needs a cam but how do you know that's the truth?

(1) 77 is F2 and they eat valve guides

(2) if cam is scrap why? bearings mean towers and lobes mean followers both now scarce for an F2

If the motor has never been apart, it more likely needs something other than a cam...and the cam alone could be worth $100.  The motor bits and rods are worth a few hundred in the right hands.  Offer less when no one buys and see what happens.  If the motor turns over it may be worth a try........
