Russ told me a few years ago, that he still has it. Sitting down at his place with a broken crank in one of the engines.

Read on dragbike.com a while back (probabably in the old school thread) that Russ was approached with the offer to rebuild it for a Cacklefest piece.
The answer was NO.   :'(

Robbie, some of these old top fuelers could be got to run again, the problem is, are the riders up to it ;D ;D ;D

I have a mate who has one, he brings it out for the odd meeting but it never performs like it did in the 60s, smoking the rear tyre for the full quarter mile.
As you get older it's all about knowing your limits, that's why I will still be running in the teens (low ones I hope  ;D) with the 750 auto.
Yesterday, I received the latest copy of my clubs magazine, in it was an article about an event in the early 60s that another mate of mine took part in (he's still racing). Top fuel bikes were still in the 11s back then and just 8 years later, Mr Honda produced a bike that, with a little work would run with them, the CB750 had arrived. 8) 8) 8)

Not a bike but for refrence when I started going to the races in 63-64 the blown nitro injected fuelers were going low 8's at 180, now we go mid sevens at 180 on gas with a four barrel carb and a powerglide. How far we have come.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

On the west coast, we were quicker. 6.0s at 210 in 64/65. I raced with some guys with a blown nitro big block Chevy top fuel. Our best ET was 7.35. Today that car would not be able to qualify in the pro stock motorcycle field.

Nice shirt Sam. ;D

Read some of the last posts Scunny. It was a thread going back to 2010 and we were talking about Russ when all of a sudden his son Russ Jr joins our forum, hahaha
The pic I posted was the bike almost completed in November last year before CV19 kicked in and put a stop to everything.
I hope you are well my friend and staying safe.

yes, fishing and spending far too much time down at my local pub. Off there shortly since it's pissing down with rain. Luckily we are virus free (touch wood)

You lucky bugger, we're locked down tighter than a ducks #$%*. Not been out of the house for 41 weeks and it gets worse for everyone else as soon as Christmas day finishes.
My Son is really big into fishing but it's been real hard for him because he only does match fishing for big money and it's been on and off all year and although leisure fishing is ok, he just don't like it. On top of all that, he got his van broke into when he was last out and all his big poles went missing. He only uses the best tackle and to replace one pole is £3,000, not sure what that is in NZ money but I wouldn't pay that sort of money to go fishing. Luckily for him, I came into a nice chunk of money this morning so he'll be getting a nice Christmas present.
Enjoy your pint or 2 or 3 or 4 and however many but take care mate and stay safe. All the best for Christmas.

Does anyone know what the Japanese on the rear fender says?  I tried the old Google picture translation and all I am getting is, "Wood Rug" or, "Tree..." so I am either missing the inside reference or it has nothing to do with wood.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
