Topic: need some help picking tires

im looking for tires for my cb/cr750 cafe.
running 19 front and 18 rear lesters.

was looking at
-Dunlop GT501
-lasertechs
-Avon roadriders

for some reason i really like the the dunlops but wanted to hear from some people about what you think and what you have had.
what are the pros and cons of each?
any one know of a deal out on one of them?
i want 100/90 19 front and 120/90 18 rear?

Same here. I have the S-11s on my 550. I'll be honest, I bought them because there was a good sale and they only cost me $8.00 to ship... Turns out they're a pretty decent tire too.

I have the Dunlop 501 on my 750.

I like them but they wear pretty fast.....about 10,000 miles.

I have the Avons you mentioned on my 400.

I like them too....only have about 1500 miles on them so can't tell ya anything on wear.


Do love the Dunlops.

As a side note...my Honda dealer buddy had the S-11's on his 750 K4...no issues but he became a dunlop convert.

All the tires you list are good, in fact nowadays, the cheapest tires out there are far superior to the OEM items. They all grip well in the wet, and will last for many thousands of miles.

I personally love Bridgestone BT45's, but I've got Dunlops on my Suzuki GS1000E, Metzlers on my Triumph Rocket III, and Avons on my CB750K0, because they were already on when I bought those bikes, and I can't fault any of them.

What do you hate about them Tim? I was in Brisbane on the weekend, I would have loved to have had one of my bikes with me, the weather was brillliant!

I aways feel like they could be a whole lot stickier.....

PO obviously favored milage over grip......more a touring tire then a sportbike.

I'm gonna get down and see ya one of these days....should be back around June....
