Shipping to Australia!
« on: March 23, 2010, 08:27:04 AM »
Whats the prefered way to ship to Aus? I got some quotes of $327> $429 for a fender and sprockets :o I tried USPS UPS and Fed EX. I cant imagine shipping a head. Should i tell them its baked goods instead of parts? Seems high to me. Thanks

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

DHL still ships internationally, they were pretty cheap when i had to ship a saddle and all the fittings from one coast to the other.........like 24 dollars.

I shipped a fairing through a freight forwarder to Australia for a few hundred for a customer. You may want to check your local air port for a agent who specializes and you may get a much better rate. It may take longer but if time isn't super important.

Good luck.

A friend of mine gets wheels from a Japanese  e-bay site called ok-shon, and it pans out where the deal is good enough to pay for his shipping expenses.

I checked just out of curiousity once and found it prohibitively expensive to ship anything of  any size, but somehow stuff gets here from China. I can't figure out how those ramen noodles get here, shipped from China  and go on sale for 10 cents a piece.

I have used Canada Post for shipping to Auz and it was reasonable. Probably about the same as USPS.
It seems they need parts in a big way "down under".

You guys may want to try using a company that specializes in shipping to Australia.
It may be cheaper since they can consolidate your shipment with others on a single container.

Here is a testimonial from   http://www.okshon.com/     a Japanese e-bay site.

For a long time now home market parts for motorcycles imported to the UK have suffered due to the lack of resource from Japan and ok!shon has done us proud by making this possible! All i can say is great service with superb packaging ensuring everything arrives safe! Many thanks for the superb service!

My friend has found good deals there, and there is someone he uses that can pickup and package your things for shipment and it is reasonable. I will ask for more details to post.
