patience is key; generosity deserves thanks
« on: March 18, 2010, 02:56:44 AM »
This thread is for anyone who let go of something someone needed just knowing the project would go forward; newbies remain intact, and full of enthusiasm, and not frustrated by all those steps redone,  saved due to generosity of board members.

My 'beneficiary,' my father, who I conscripted into a parts-gathering trip across the great state of Texas, has brought me in touch with several members who have made my first bike a possibility on a budget. I just looked at a box that came with new gaskets for the top of the 350 carbs, mine were going to be patrched up with yamabond, and when I hear it run, I will spare the new gaskets  for the carbs that need them. But the weak links that I know exist I have parts for.

Not even done  with the first project, but I now have parts for the second, excluding maybe a upper triple clamp. A bit of brasing ad I have a gas  tank. That stuff you call junk in the garage will be useful to someone, thanks for giving it forward.  I see an e-bay series of posts and realize the guy wants to make $10,000 out of parting out one 350f.

You guys are amazing, a resource of knowledge, and a wellspring of generosity for guys like me  that have no budget, or a debt to pay. Special thanks to Morini who sent the oil orifice which is where my project would have screeched to a hault weeks ago, and Dollar Bill, for the three wheeler parts bike...

Happy to help, as long as people "pay it forward".

Hey I just looked up this guy's flea-bay store for example. Nothing goes auction at all and high prices.

I gotta thank Dollar Bill for the three wheeler, maybe it will come back as a three wheeler some day, no sawsall out to make back to  a 350 frame yet. The motor came apart tonight, and when it first cracked open the water that came outof the cylinders actulally looked clean. I don't know if the 'gelatinish' sludge on the pistons was oil from someone trying to  work it loose  or what.

Carb trinkets and the rocker are going to work great..
