rebuilding the turn signal switch?
« on: March 24, 2010, 08:09:58 AM »
has anyone ever rebuilt a K3 L/R switch?
I'm constantly having to jiggle mine to keep the running lights lit.
Sprayed deoxit & blew it out w/ air a few times but no improvement.
I looked in there: it looks like the contacts are all purpose built for this switch & so replacing the guts with non-honda switch guts would be almost impossible.... or would it???

Any ideas?
Ever been done?

Ive been into a couple switches..350/550/and K2750.
You can cannabalize the switch internals on some of them from
another unit. If the contact points are fried inside those early
ones where there is a small fiber board soldered on to the leads
your kind of up for a challenge. I would rather find a whole new
control. Sometimes though its a slider that makes contact with
a spring and small ball bearing at that can be had from a junk unit.

I'd LOVE to find a new control but this particular version (750K3/4) is super scarce and hence soooper expensive.  >:(
