1975 CB750F value
« on: March 13, 2010, 11:04:36 AM »
I just got my hands on a pretty nice 1975 CB750F.  It's not got the original paint, but it's 97% complete with the only thing missing being the rear fender (which I may be able to get).  The bike has a clean title, and the exhaust is nice all the way back to the muffler where it looks like the previous owner cut it off with a sawzall to make it shorter.  I haven't heard it run yet, as I just got it.   It has 6200 miles on it.

I'm asking about the value of the bike, because I'm in the middle of a CB350F restoration right now, and won't be able to keep the bike.  Or, if this bike is much more desirable, I'll sell off the 350 and properly restore this one.

Chances are the wife will let me get it running before I sell so I will have some time to obtain that rear tool box, light bracket, and grab bar.

Thanks,

Joe

Around here a nice one with good original paint and muffler would be worth around $1500-1750.  Price seems to vary from one area to another.  Some don't like the stock muffler so it may or may not be a detriment. A pro looking paint job may not hurt the value but a crap rattle can job is no help.  They don't have the collector value of earlier K bikes but I think they are better in every other aspect. The brakes, handling, and engine are all a bit improved.  I really like this bike and would dump the 350 in a heartbeat.  I am just not into smaller bikes.  Depends on what you want to do.  Just running around locally the 350 may be fine but if you want to go any distance on the road keep the 750F.

Washington, DC area.

The only reason I'm considering selling is that along with this 750  I got a pristine '75 Yamaha RD350....

2 stroke bikes are my original passion, so if anything goes first, it's the 750.  I just found the toolbox and other rear fender stuff, so it's 99% complete, and all it needs is the grab bar/taillight mount.

Those Yamaha's are highly sought after.  Cool find.  There is a nice 72 R5 for sale locally.

Oh, I'm jealous! I had a sweet '75 RD350 a few years back. I  had original Bassoni (sp?) chambers on it and a medium port job. That thing was faaaast (well, quick anyway). It'll always be there in the "I never should have sold it" category for me (alongside my '65 Mustang, my '65 Galaxie 500 XL, my first Opel GT,  my ...)

So should I keep the CB350F I've been working on or the RD-350?  They're both collectible bikes.
