It has been a long time since I don't read TT posts anymore. His scientifical approach seems well founded, and it definitely makes him win every controversy if only because most people won't bother in wasting his time trying to win discussions over the internet and spending their time looking for figures to support their point and convince people they don't know at all.

I find many of his posts plain boring, sorry for going against the grain. I come here to have a good time and learn things about old bikes, not always in that specific order, and if I can help somebody with my experience, much better.

I for one prefer the advice given by many other members, who had proven skilled enough to give sound advice, but without the superiority complex. Their posts are more entertaining to read, more easy to understand, and given in the way of "friend to a friend" instead of "teacher to pupil".

"Pride." Few things are a greater hindrance to learning.

There is many people who appreciate TT style and wisdom, and if only for that, his contributions are an asset to the forum. Then it is up to everybody to decide whether it is worth reading or not. I'm also one of those who think you should let somebody know he has a booger in his face, but there are many ways to do it, and in my opinion, the best one is to do it privately and let the guy get away unembarrassed.

What happens when he stands in the middle of a crowded room and yells, "HEY GUYS IS THERE A BOOGER ON MY FACE?"

I don't agree. You can have your pride and still be willing to learn. If your self steem relies on a feeling of infallibility, then everytime you learn a new thing -or discover something you knew was wrong- is a blow under the flotation line. As long as you are willing to learn, every reliable source is good. Everybody is wrong one time or the other, and there is always a polite way to make your point without ridiculing the one who was wrong, because as Ben Franklin said, "some people like to argue and they get victory some times, instead of good will that would be of more use to them"

You simply say "yes, there is".

If every reliable source is good why B&M about the tone of the reliable source? I can count on one hand the number of posters here that could be considered a more reliable source than TT.

What does B&M mean?

My point is that this forum has a double function as a place where you can learn about technology, and a place where you can interact -if only virtually- with other human beings with interests alike, and for that reason it is also a place where you can express your opinions about different subjects, and you can know different opinions than yours. It is up to everyone what the main reason for coming here is.

There is people here with not too much to give in the technical aspect, but much to give in the human aspect. And the other way round. You here can learn not only about bikes and technology, but about life in general, about dealing with everyday problems, with parenting, with cooking, with neigborhood relationship, with losing your loved ones etc.

I don't intend to rain in anybody's parade. Lloyd is probably - I bet he is but I don't know for certain- the member with more posts in this forum, and many people here seem they will miss his knowledge, wisdom and informative posting. Nobody seem to be missing the person, the sense of humor, the humanity, the personal stories. Maybe it is because he never showed much of himself, and when he did, well, everybody will have his own opinion about that.

I would like to miss the person, but I won't. If some day I miss his knowledge I will buy an encyclopaedia.

Nobody seem to be missing the person, the sense of humor...

You have to speak for yourself on that one.  The word "Nobody" casts a wide net.  Personally, I think the forum would be diminished if he left, and not because there would be fewer dissertations on points ignition or charging systems.

Hey Raul, it sounds like TT peed in your Corn Flakes. ;)

Hey Raul, it sounds like TT peed in your Corn Flakes. ;)

I said "nobody seem" because of all the posts asking Two Tired to stick around, everybody mentioned the knowledge but not the personal traits, like if people would miss what he gives but not what he is.

I for one have stepped many times in forum discussions, same than Lloyd and many other had done. As he didn't started this thread and it seemed to be a panegyric, I doubted between saying nothing or expressing a dissenting voice, even knowing it would not gather me any good will either. People was praising his style and I said I didn't like it, though I think his intentions are good natured to help others in his personal way. I don't think I have said anything pejorative about the person, because it is not a personal argument. Some people have mentioned his in-your-face, blunt style of saying things. There is an spanish proverb that goes "if you use to speak your mind, you will be told things you won't like". It cuts both ways I guess, but if people say to appreciate the direct approach, I guess I'm doing just the same so I can't do wrong by expressing dissent.

Anyway, I don't like TT's style much but I have nothing against the person, whom I don't know. I find Hondaman's, Bryan Jones, Mike Rieck -to name just a few- advice more useful, more down to earth. It doesn't really take a nuclear scientist to explain how to bleed a brake, true a wheel or adjust a voltage regulator. Informative as it may be, there comes a point where excess information seems more pedantry than willingness to help, but that's just my personal opinion.
