Oh yeah, I might have turned it three total rotations so far is all. I don't have any visible wear, but I noticed spots in the bearing faces when I cleaned them off the first time that I assume are from the moly being squished. I used only straight oil on the following two tries.

I'm keen to hear back if you or Ron have any issues when you torque to 20+ lbs. on the studs.

I was close to giving you a buzz Saturday to see if you wanted to come put eyes on it and make sure I wasn't jacking something up, but I figured since you're an old duffer with a hurt back and all I shouldn't bother ya.   :D

All BS aside, you should come look at it and see what's happening man. I'm sure it's fat bearings, but on the other hand I never have heard of clamping a crank... even with blacks.

Actually, I'm in Vegas Friday morning till Sunday night. The new bearings will be a couple weeks though. Maybe during the week or next weekend you could roll up.

Mike, try Torquing the bolts to 17 or so where the crank still turns freely then torqe one at a time to 20 and see if the crank nips up. this may show you the troublesome journal or bearing.

Hi Mike, I have been following your build with interest, what happened to that 812 idea you had way back? Your old cases arrived safe and sound Thanks... and better yet cost zero to ship over, as i got them sent with 4 bits of K0's i bought from Las Vegas. So all Good Mate and thanks for packing those cases so well... The saying goes the only thing they handle with care is a roll of barbed wire... and its true the K0 i got shipped over from North Carolina arrived with busted fins on the head and a busted alt cover, Man i was pissed, but after a month i am comming back around...and washed it up with some help from my buddy Bob, and its not looking so bad now..
I havent taken your old cases to the welders yet, but have had a good look and have noticed that that part of the front right side is very much the same like the die cast cases and i have dug out some old busted die cast cases to chop up for fill in bits, This is all my idea and the welder may well want to do something different as i will be guided by him... but my plan was to take up a good set of cases as well and let him bolt your damaged bottom half case to a good top case and fill in the missing bit using the cut out pieces and same with the Damaged Top case. sounds like it may work? I sure hope so.. I have most of the rest of the bike now too. all the right parts too... Hard to find stuff, i still have to find one sandcast speedo drive and that will be it... Wahooo..

Well I've had a lot of different ideas for this build along the way, but once Buzz made those 67mm JE pistons available, I knew I had to have them.  ;D

I'm sorry to hear the K0 got manhandled, that's the $h|ts mate. Sounds like you have a solid plan for the sandcast, my hat's off to ya.

Hope Vegas was good!  I odered a Morgan carbtune last week.  I figured since I have two old bikes I will need my own carb sync tool rather than borrowing all the time.  Once your bike is done you are more than welcome to use it.  I can get your tuner back to you whenever.

Vegas was fun as hell! I even got some sun outta the deal.

So the greens arrived and I just plastigauged them with 20.5 lbs. on the studs. Guess what reading I got?... Yep .0015"

What everyone probably does not know is the extent to which we had to go to get all those nice pretty new bolts, etc  ;) Yeah, we're being anal  ::)

I've had visitors for the past 2 weeks and the only aluminum I've been dealing with is beer can aluminum.  :)

I do have everything ready to go, I just need time. I'm going to open up the oil pump again and install new o-rings in the pump body and a shaft seal on the gear drive. It was difficult to find the parts numbers! I did manage to find a NOS rubber leak stopper plug and spring. Wish I had been able to find a NOS bypass spring but no luck. The studs aren't torqued yet but they look good sitting there. You'll probably pass me real soon. I'm headed out on the road 10/6 for about 3 weeks. Colorado to Key West via Biketoberfest.

Keep up the good work!! I think I'll always remember 15/10,000's (.0015). Seems magical.

Yeah but what about the original 8 X 56 that we can get as 8 X 55 from Honda?! Nobody else will be as original as we are with NOS unobtainium 10 X 82 and 8 X 56! I'd like to think that $8+ of that was shipping from Thailand. So what if we're 900?!! We try harder than anyone else and it shows!!
