ok so at leaast a couple of people have wanted to know how i did these so here goes step by step
1:remove gauges from bike on my 77 they were ten 10 mm screws and the speedo and tach cable see picture 1
2:begin by removing the chrome steel trim ring that holds you gauges together i used the paint can opener method see picture 2 and 3
3:remove the black cup lens and inner reflector picture 4 and 5

11:no grab a can of flatblack spray paint and lightly paint until you can longe see light through the face see pic 11
12:now carefully peel off mask i used a sewing needle taped to an inkpen see pic 12 and 13
13: now reassembly gauges in reverse order and re install on your bike they are easy to read during the day and at night the numbers are glow green and are much easier to read even with stock lighting enjoy pic 14 done

Nice tip.. I have a spare set, perhaps I will try this. I like IC's halo lighting but I may save my self the trouble and just use the stock ones.

How do you manage to see the needle at nightime? I you have masked the translucent green, now there is no backlighting but through the numbers.

actually the needles is very easy to read at night my cell phone camera doesnt do this justice and there is still the lighting coming from the refloctor ring around the cup

Here is what I did with mine. I cheated a bit... I have access to a $60k laser etcher.
This picture does these new face plates NO justice at all... but you get the idea.

Zaipai,
thanks for the compliment! I have been toying with the idea of selling them, but I'm not sure how much of a demand there would be for these, let alone how much to sell them for.

What are your thoughts on it?
