Well I picked up a set from ebay that turned out nice if I do say so, and they came with very detailed instructions. That said I paid $20 for the set (plus shipping/taxes etc) and did not think twice about it. I hope that helps you some. I think there is a market for them especially as the old tachs/speedos get more and more grungy.

Zaipai,
thanks for the compliment! I have been toying with the idea of selling them, but I'm not sure how much of a demand there would be for these, let alone how much to sell them for.

What are your thoughts on it?

Count, there's a dude on Feebay doing them and selling for $30 a pop.  They are overlays (you can search them)  I actually sent him my face plates but the PO I bought my CB500 from has a 500 speedo (blue face) and a larger 750 tach (green face)  I need to do something with them..they're not the hottest things on my bike.

Zaipai,
If you would like me to do up a set of gauges for you I would be more than happy! These face plates are not stickers, but entirely new made from 1/4 in. lexan. I can discuss them in more detail if you would like, and personally I think that there a leaps and bounds better than the original... mostly because you can see them at night with just the standard bulbs behind them (vs. LED).
Anyway, let me know.

I will let you know. My guages are messed up so I might replace them rather then spend time trying to fix some thing I can't fix.

Those are VERY nice indeed, I did not realize that they are not stickers.. Took a better look at the picture wow.. You should be able to get quite a bit for them I would think..

Here is what I did with mine. I cheated a bit... I have access to a $60k laser etcher.
This picture does these new face plates NO justice at all... but you get the idea.

Dude those gauges are AWESOME!!!!
Do mine!!!

Pm me with your info and I'll get you started. The info I need from you is what kind of gauges you have (blue or green face), have you taken them apart before, what color you would like them, and how dark you want the color (by this I mean do you want them as bright as they are in the picture, or would you like them as dark as the stock look where at night all you see is the glow around the gauge)
We can talk a bit more about them in the pm.
Thanks!

wow Count, Those are some seriously cool guages.

Though I cant tell you I'm ready to buy, its definitely something I'd get in the future. Too much going on the bike now. I'd think you'll have some decent demand, cause thats slick work.

No need to buy right now. I'm more interested in getting the word out there about these. If I'm going to get serious about these then I will need some other people's comments other than mine. I tell you what it you would like to have a set of the red ones I will be more than happy to do them up for you. All I ask is that you take care of the shipping (like 5-6 bucks). After that if you like them you can post it hear, or if you don't tell me how I can improve them.
Let me know what you think!

Since I have a few people asking for a better pic I thought that I would share with the rest. These pictures are much better than the last one, and you get 1 day (pic with flash) and 1 night (pic without flash). The gauges look "speckled" because they are dirty... I've had a few good days of riding and haven't cleaned the bike  :'(
Enjoy!

I have toyed around with the gold... the problem is that it just will not turn out right. The paint that I have to use is made for plastic, and they don't make a gold for plastic.
The paint that I use is here... http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/ In the middle of the page you can see the colors that I have available to work with.
Let me know,
Tom

Been watchin' this thread with some interest, have you decided do take this on as a side project? If so what are you considering charging. I've got a 500 speedo that needs some help.

Well its down to either Sunbeam, its yellow but its muted enough it might pass as gold, or white.. The white could look very good depending on how I paint them... I will let you know if I can get my hands on some gauges, the ones I have now are not worth putting the money into..

Glad to see you have been watching! Yea, I took this on as a side project... I'm still kind of working out the bugs, but I think that I have it pretty much figured out. The ultimate goal is to start selling these. The only thing is I'm not sure what to sell them for. I still need to do the research on that. I'm sure that with the 500 it will not be to different than the 550's and 750's... a little more work as far as making them accurate, but not much problem. If you would like me to talk a look at what you got shoot me a PM with some pic's and I'll let you know what I can do.

Well I will be happy to do something up for you in yellow... not sure that you would be real pleased with the results... but I might be wrong as well. At any rate, you do know that these will come painted? It's part of the process... anyway, like I said, let me know when you have some gauges and I will see what I can do for you.

I just read your other thread and i can see why you got annoyed. This forum is full of good folks with differing senses of humor or lack there of and really 90% of the time you couldn't get better help anywhere.
Just remember {as sometimes i forget} that this is the internet and it is super easy to ignore without having to live with the consequences. Back to topic, I also like the stance of your bike.... ;)   Forget the #$%* stirrers mate and enjoy the wealth of knowledge this forum has to offer....
