Oil Pressure swithc alternatives, ideas?

Stock replacement, or curious if someone has come up with a re-placement.

Thanks

It seems like adapting another switch wouldn't be a problem. Just start with the correctly rated switch with the correct threads and go from there, maybe some other bikes use the same switch?

Some more info perhaps?

Anyway, another option is the pressure switch from an early 90s Honda Accord. The pressure rating is slightly higher so it will let you know when things are crapping out a little sooner. The only issue I had with the one I picked up was it was a tad tall and the case and switch required some modification.

I finally cracked the left case today and put an early 90's Accord switch in...I think when I bought it I specified 1990, but it's been so long ago since I've had it lying around I'm not sure (I'll check the part number against Autozone's website and post back the specific year).  Also of note, it threaded in perfectly and isn't leaking, the case required modification as already mentioned, and the oil pressure light is on steady now and won't go off.  Sporkfly, you said the pressure rating is higher - do you know how much higher?  I know there's plenty of oil and I ride the bike quite a bit (no engine damage), so maybe my oil pump gear is shot!  Something else to tear into...  :D

And why not use the original Honda switch for $20, that is correctly rated and doesn't need modification?  ;D

Yeah, I get the gauge idea - I was going with the Accord switch as a stock replacement for the dummy light only.

I was under the impression, from other posts, that the Honda switch was expensive/hard-to-find - so I never even looked!  The Accord switch (PN# PS100) works as far as I can tell, I just think my pressure is low...I'll have to put a gauge on it now anyway to see.  The Honda switch is currently $27.78 on bikebandit.com, the Accord switch was about $8...was it worth cutting into a hidden part of the left case cover?  Probably not, but it's too late now!

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.
