cb750 bobber build
« on: March 25, 2010, 03:52:29 PM »
i need some direction.  i'm putting together a cb750  with a cyclexchange boxer frame - they're awesome, by the way.  i will be using the stock front end, but i want to run hd wheels.  i've got a 18/19 set of hd mags, but i'm not sure where to start as far as mounting.  in the front do i pick up an hd axle, have it machined to fit the bottom of the forks, and then space it properly with bushings?  i don't plan on running a front break (as yet).  in the rear i'd probably have to pick up an hd axle - do i need all the parts to tighten it as well or can i make the chain tighteners from the stock cb work?

just need some ideas.  the build is going well so far and if push comes to shove i'll run the stock wheels for now.  i'll try to get some pics up as well.

You may want to post in the project thread.

It may be easy to find nearby help , if you post where you are located..

You may want to post a lot more info..

Does your frame have HD neck or Honda?, what forks you are running?, etc, etc..
HD rear axle, your stock adjuster will probably fit, IF they fit the frame, and you will probably have to space out the rear sprocket, even though it is dished.

35mm FX forks should fit Honda trees, except spacing is different and the tapers on top of your forks will be sticking over the top ( could be shortened)

john,on early (before about 2000) hd wheels at least on the rear used a 3/4 inch axle and the 750 used a 20mm axle.the 750 axle is a tad larger than the hd wheels so the hd axle will fit into and thru the 750 adjusters, you can also use the 750 spacers if you dont mind a little bit of slop.now as for the front,i dont have any info on that.good luck.btw, the later hd wheels used 1 inch axles
