petcock question
« on: April 26, 2005, 10:28:11 AM »
Hey all,

I've got a 75 cb750f

does anyone know if petcocks from smaller cb's (550's) are the same as the 750?  Mine is one of the petcocks with a nut on top, rather than the two bolts -- will similar petcocks from smallr bikes provide enough flow volume?
Thanks!
Greg

Flow volume is not the problem. As long as the petcock fits you should be good. One common SOHC "nut version" thread size is 16 x 1.5 (metric) . There are propably more thread sizes used not sure. Petcock versions sometimes vary even within one model buildt at the same year.

When I was getting the 360 twin goin the petcock was leaking. Noticed that my 79 650 (parts bike)
petcock would fit but it only had one outlet instead of the 360s two. Just teed it off and hasnt been a problem.  FYI the 81/82 650s had a bigger petcock.
