1969 K CB750??
« on: January 19, 2006, 08:22:00 AM »
69 K CB 750, 29,000 miles.
What do you think it is worth?? Nothing particularly special about it, just a nice bike..
I will keep you in suspense on the price as I would be interested in opinions!

Headlight ears, headlight bucket, caliper, seat, sidecases, air cleaner, front fender, engine (or head) carbs are off later model - why? Is it a rebuild?
Looks more like an early rear fender/grab bar removal added to a K2 with a K4 up engine. Be  leery.

EDIT - looking at it again  I notice K3 up fork legs and disc brake shield. I'd say this is just a K4 (because of head on engine) with K1 or K2 tank sidecases (small emblems) with the rear blinkers/fender off a K0 added. With this much misrepresentation - pass...running past.
If someone is trying to pawn that off as a K0 then they are either a shyster or completely naive and have been stung by a shyster with a repapered bike.

 ???

Obviously not a '69 bike? A K2 perhaps, based on the color scheme? Do you have VIN numbers or other reason to believe it may be? Seems to be in nice shape, although the photo is low res and pixellates upon magnification.

What else can you tell us about it?

Yep, looks like most of the parts that normally command the highest price have been replaced.  Is that even an original paint scheme?  IMO it's not worth any more than a K1 in similar condition, but then I guess that depends on the engine number.

I'd say at best a legal 1969 frame with a K4 or so donating all its parts. Or just a restamped frame. Avoid it if the actual papers call for a 1969 bike. It's someone else's headache.

And yet another EDIT -looks like the horn is on the right hand side. Early K0s had the horn on the left. So someone either moved the horn mount or the papers are forged. Its just a mess - walk away if its registered as a 1969

The engine and frame numbers should tell the story, but it doesn't look at all like a '69.

Well it isn't a '69 (not sandcast oh my gord :o), but, it looks pretty and if it's in budget it should be a nice ride if it's mechanically sound.
cheers jeff
I know its only rock and roll,
but I like it...

Agree, 100% not at all like a K0 and..

  $10K  :o :o

Check Rich Pyles web site. His is a K0 of more or less this color and they are no where near alike. The only thing not standard on his is the exhaust.

If it's not a US import Jimmy, it's a K2. Britain, like Oz and most other countries bar the US only got the K0/K1/K/K6/K7 and F1/F2. Nice looking bike though mate! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I think it might have come from Europe originally, maybe France or Belgium?

Thanks for the referal, Bob.  ;D If you look at http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/comet2/honda2  you can see that the K0 'HONDA'  tank badge is black rather than white.

True. We can forgive that detail, or at least I can. Nothing a little black paint and a fine brush and steady hand can't fix.   ;)

Rich,

Would like to add your's is a very nice age appropriate bike. I look forward to getting mine repainted sometime, but all the paint work will then look out of place new compared to the rest, would love it if mine look as good as yours, as is.

10K?! Jim, get out of there as fast as you can, save youself. Seriously, its a nice looking bike but, as everyone has pointed out, it ain't no K0 and even if it was it would only be worth that kind of money if it was a sandcast, in which case it would proabably be worth alot more. Last spring I picked up a 1970 K0 fully restored (except the carbs, but thats a story for another day), for $5000 Canadian and I thought that was a bit much. 10K is insane for that bike.

But hey, I could be wrong.

Jim,

Check this out on e-bay:

Item number: 4606207801

Thats how a K0 should look, and I bet it goes well under $10,000

I'm not sure. He has had that bike listed before - twice I think. And it hasn't hit reserve yet. It's the exact same ad he keeps running.
And given that World sandcasts are in the $21,500 area there's the trickle down effect that paints dollar signs in owners of lesser vehicles eyes.

I hadn't seen it before. Its a great looking bike but its not a sandcast. I wonder what his reserve is? He'd probably make more parting it out as sandcast parts. The prices of these things are crazy. Like I said I paid $5000 for my K0 and I thought that was steep. Some one will eventually give him what he wants.

No its not a sandcast and I didn't imply it was. I meant that with the more collectible machines going for big money, everybody and their dog thinks what they have it a big money machine.
With the advent of 1971 hemi cuda ragtops going for $3-5 million each, everyone things their 318 rustbucket is a $100,000 car. Bikes are getting the same way.  A sandcast goes for $21,500, well my mutt must be a $4,000 bike. ;D

I was never a K0 fan, I reckon they got it right with the K1, and it went downhill from there............ Oh wait a sec, is this the "which bike is your favorite" thread? Sorry, I'll go now, time to take my meds anyway................ ;D

$10k(6k pounds) is ridiculous, I agree. But,  he has another bike for 5k pounds which is just as good, but still over priced..
