I have a throttle lock on my '77 550K3.  I use it mainly for cold morning warm-up while I gear-up.  Occasionally I will engage it while riding if my hand is numbing and needs blood.

For normal cruising, I prefer the paddle-like palm rest. Can't remember what it's called.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Me, too.  The one I have is called a "Throttle Rocker".  Simple, cheap, effective.

I had the throttle lock style CC on one bike and it was great, because I could take my hand off the throttle to give it a shake and relieve the pressure on my wrists etc. It was easy to lock and unlock the throttle, and brilliant for warming the bike up too. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

+1 on that though I removed mine from the bike in order to clean things up a bit. Also, not being from the land down under, there was no need to lock the throttle in any given spot to relieve "pressure" on my wrist and/or give it a shake. ;D ;D ;D

Really Terry, pull off the road for that sort of thing...

Ha ha, I went to the doctors today Mick, my regular doctor is semi-retired, and so I was examined by a beautiful young female doctor instead. I said to her, "hows it looking, Doc?" and she told me that I had to stop masturbating? I asked why, and she said, "because I'm trying to examine you". Fair enough, I suppose.............  ;D

Just so we all know what we're talking about,

Here is the throttle lock.  Set the throttle position and flip the lever down to hold the throttle in that position.

Here is the "Cramp Buster".  You can hold the throttle position with your palm, giving your fingers a break.

Here is a shot of both.  Oh, and in the middle is the parking brake  ;D

I have the vista cruise throttle lock.  Love it, but I worked it a little so it has a good crisp tight feel.  I use it all the time, but not to rub one off like Terry.

I have a throttle lock and LOVE it.  You can't go wrong for the $20 to $30.

I've got one just like that also. Found it in a box of random parts and just had to throw it on...great for the relieving the aching carpal tunnel on a long ride. Dont use it for warming up, doesn't really need it, and the clamp doesn't hold well at the lower end. Holds better at freeway speeds but does slide off a little.

That's why I reworked mine.  It clamps well, releases clearly, feels solid, as the kids say, it's sick!

yeah, I shoulda done that, but I got excited when I found it and just stuck it on. I had been looking at some new style add on cruise control at the local Honda shop, cant remember the name now "Brake-Off" maybe? had some sort of rat trap that dis-engaged the throttle lock when you hit the front brake. More than I wanted to spend at the time, and while I do understand the safety aspect of it, seems just as easy to flip the lever lock off as you grab for the brake since your hands right there anyway. Don't know how tight yours is, but right now anyway, if I did somehow forget that I had the throttle locked, it's easy to overpower the grip of the clamp and dial it back to zero, just feels stiff.

I think you're describing 'Brake-Away' a guy i see at work from time to time has one on a Honda Shadow Sabre 1100.  He raves about it all the time, it's not cheap but for him it was money well spent.

Mine is tight enough that it doesn't change at that buzzy spot at 65 mph.  I can overpower mine, too.
