New to the forum, but long time lover of Honda- I own and run an independent Honda Auto Repair shop, but currently own 2 bikes- 2004 VFR800 and this 71 CB500K.

I purchased the bike from a friend in PA as it needed some work he wasn't up for. He painted the tank and side covers with House of Kolors with the flames...I just fixed some electrical work, got it running, and have been cruising it back and forth to work.

Just wanted to join the forum and share the bike and get some more info from you guys!

Tracing a couple shorts- ignition on blew the fuse. Also updated to mini fuse instead of BUSS.

In my shop, after a little clean up.

WELCOME!  Thanks for the intro and hope you stick around!

The 500 looks restored!  electrics on these old CB's are EASY.

Let me know if I can be of any help, and again, hope you stick around!

Thanks!

Yeah, the electrical is pretty gravy compared to diagnosing issues on newer cars with multiplexes and such :P

Going to start cleaning the carbs tonight- only runs good with choke cracked open, dies when closed. After that, shouldn't need much besides upgrades- better suspension, etc(I weigh 250 and trying to gain a little more ;)

Thanks guys-

pulled the carbs off last night and cleaned them out at work today.Pretty easy task and not too much build up, but definitely a nice difference! Amsoil power foam combustion cleaner works great for this as well :)
