Somebody up here has a '79 (Most desirable year, for Value) that need lots of work AND has a "WINDJAMMER" on it! A '79! I wish I had the gauges (for one thing, the '79 speedometer goes to 150 and the '80 doesn't!)! Yeah, it's not light, but I think it handles great for such a large bike. To ME, it doesn't FEEL that big while going down the road. 8)

When I went out on the first good weather day, everyone was so happy that we all waved.  Well, I guess it only takes a couple weeks before the Harley guys remember that they are too good to wave back.   ::)

I went out today for several hours and noticed this.  To be fair, the lone HD guys still waved, but the ones in packs remembered that they're better than me.

Anyway, it was nice to log in some real riding time today.  (For those who may be wondering because my cafe racer is being worked on, I rode my lesser talked about K4.  I'm going to have to show more love for her - she deserves it!)   :)

Yeah, you just NEVER know about who is going to wave and who won't. I was out again today and got waves from most everybody and only a few H-D riders. ::) Funny thing about the whole deal was, as I was approaching a GROUP of what looked to be all H-Ds, nobody waved, except one guy about midways in the group and on the left side of the group. ::) I almost missed him, as I was checking out the group as I was approaching and I managed to get a wave to that one guy. It makes me wonder IF he was later chastised by the group for not recognizing my bike was a HONDA! :P ;D The GTX definitely draws more attention from young AND old alike AND guys and Gals. Only thing is, the GTX uses more gas than the Honda even thinks about. :o

FWIW...

1.  I have ape hanger bars (13" tall) on my Harley, and like them.

2.  I wave if the other person waves first.  I simply got tired of waving all the time!  Sometimes I jsut nod my head......I DO stop and check on bikers by the side of the road to see if they need help!

I'm not better than anyone else.

P.S.  the Harley bashing is getting old guys.

   Hey Joe,

Don't worry about the bashing, we're just reliving old stereotypes.  And the thing about stereotypes is they all have some basis in truth.  I do a bit of touring on my VFR with an eclectic group of riders and we're all on something different, no Harleys though.  We do some riding through S. Texas and that area, great mc country.  And usually when we pass a big group of Harley riders, either none of them wave or one or two do.  And this is when they're on the side of the road admiring the landscape.  No bias or anything, just the facts.  If there's a bunch of women passengers that aren't too scruffy looking we usually get a lot of waves from them.  What that says I won't get into here.

Got my case and pistons today, thanks.

Glad to hear the case and pistons made it there.

Honestly, I don't really care much if someone waves at me or not anymore.....I'm tired of the "weekend badasses" myself.....I'm riding for ME...that said, if someone waves at me, and if I see it, I wave or nod back....that's just manners though. :-\

Gotta say, bashing the harley boys came from somewhere, but in general I've been surprised at how nice everyone is on whatever kind of bike they ride, harley or sportbike, whatever. There is always going to be a D-baggers movement out there.

Of course, as the slogan goes... you meet the nicest people...

I've mentioned it on here before, but there (thankfully) doesn't seem to be much "classism" in my neck of the woods.  Jap scrap, Brit bombers, hogs, even bike cops all wave to each other.  Squids are hit and miss, but I'm not going to lump all of the crotchrocketeers together on that one.

I usually wave to all of 'em,unless I'm in a tight corner, giving it hell. I truly dont give a #$%* who waves back.

I remember when it was the Harley guys that gave US s**t. Seems to have changed: I recall 5 or six years ago, while I was at a "biker bar", and all I heard was stuff like "man, my brother had one of those", or "my dad had one", or "the first bike I ever rode was a 750 Honda"...
I also used to ride with a couple of friends with CBXs, in '79: they ALWAYS stole the show!!!
Everyone saw the six pipes and their jaws dropped!!!! :D
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!
Helmets save brains. Always wear one and ride like everyone is trying to kill you....

Damn shame the big four walked away from the straight six.  Velvety smooth and wonderful sound.
