i have to say, i would have a problem with a pregnant woman smoking pot, theres no telling what kind of harm it could do to a developing fetus. anyways back on subject.............a neighbor is going to let me try her TENS unit, see if it helps at all.

The thing with women smoking at all is... their eggs are in them since birth. That is all they get. They don't make more like men do with sperm. Smoking, drinking, etc has an effect no matter when they are done in a woman's life. More-so when pregnant is my guess but still, there is no good time to do those things as a woman. The younger you started smoking, it effects you more. Even if you stopped within a few years, the "growing years" are the worst to smoke anything because changing cells are the ones most sensitive to damage.

Now that we are done with the medical information, can we just focus on the fun parts of this discussion?  :D

ahhhhhhh i never knew that about the human eggs, damn i learn all sorts of new stuff here.  now a question, is it safe for me to use a TENS unit without checking with my doc first? a neighbor has offered hers for me to try. is it anything like the thing a chiropractor uses after adjusting the spine? that was always my favourite part of the visit and i'd fall asleep on the table with those nice warm packs on my back. i didnt see a chiropractor because of the broken neck, this is back when i got dumped off a polo pony and tweaked my back.

I'm guessing it would be safe to try your friend's unit.  Just don't go hooking it up to your nipples.

Most TENS units aren't typically made for cervical muscles. For their unit, I would apply them at the base I guess, across your shoulders. You don't put the pads directly on the stuff muscles, rather on either side of them. The "current" travels between the pads and across the muscle. You will get much better effect that way.

If they have the really small pads, like size of a quarter, you could do your neck but there is very precise placement of those so you don't do something bad to lymph nodes and other sensitive tissue. I wouldn't advise you to do that.

My TENS was $$$$ and I was glad the insurance paid for it. I was thinking and  I believe it was covered 100% at the time because I had already paid my full deductible in from the surgery to remove a few more screws from my leg. By the time the TENS bill came in, my out of pocket was taken care of for the year. It still costs me $20 every few months for pads when I need them. That seemed to be covered the same. Well worth every penny.

ok, i appreciate the advice on where i should and should not place the pads. i'm thinking just inside where my shoulder blades kind of poke out will be a good spot then on the lower back maybe just inside the hips? back is screwed too  :D
