Minnesota Ride
« on: April 20, 2010, 04:17:02 AM »
Never done this before and I suspect I'm a little late as most people have busy life styles these days but I thought I'd give it a try. I live in Hastings MN and have a lot of friends that ride but not many that have air cooled sohc's.  If anyone is interested in going out Friday morning, lets set a ride  up.  I'd like to meed @ Dun Bros coffee in Hastings @ 0900 and take off around 0930.  I would say Saturday, and I'm sure I'd get more replies to that but it sounds like rain sat.  So if your not tied down and want to ride it rather than work on it and maybe check out a few others, Friday looks like it's going to be a great day for it.  The more the merrier.  Thanks to anyone who shows up.

If I had a bike that ran I'd be there.

I'll have to pass on this one.  It would require me to ride 30 miles across the heart of the metro at the height of rush hour on potholed freeways.  Not for me. ;)  And I am supposed to be working. ;D Another time.

OK guys and gals, sounds like a no go.  It was worth a shot.  Maybe another weekend...  Thanks for the replies.

I was just telling a good friend I wish I could plan hooky days... Great idea but I cannot make it either. I think it would be great to get more of the local SOHCrs out for a meet and or ride. Keep me on your mailing list (myshineymetal@aol.com). I always have something I can ride though like stated earlier potholed rush hour traffic not on my bucket list of CB400F rides...lol. I have a 750 or 2 that should be done sometime this year too, those take to the highway just fine.

Thanks for the invite!

Thanks 750 for trying to get the Twin Cities folks together. I am a new member from Robbinsdale and would like to meet other local SOHC people. Please let me know if something comes up that I can tag along!

thanks,

Bill and Vance
I do a lot of riding just around the city.  One of my favorites is getting on the River Road downtown and going out to Minnehaha Falls and then taking the Creek Parkway to Lake Harriet, then round the Lakes to Cedar Lake and Theo Wirth Parkway and I am home.  Always up for company.  Maybe we could drop by Caav's place and offer encouragement. :D Saturday is booked as I am attending a memorial service for an old friend but Sunday may be good for a city ride if anyone is interested.

Anyone interisted in future rides, please post your E-mails and I will let you know future dates.  Also, if you guys want to post or PM me some dates that work for you I could set up better times.  I'd really like to get the SOHC guys and anyone else together and an even bigger (maybe pipe) dream is to get a monthly ride going.  Lastly, if something works out for any of you last minute I'll still show @ Dun Bros coffee in Hastings @ 0900 and Take off @ 0930.  Some friends and I are planning on riding and the more the marrier.  Thanks
Tom

You guys may want to check out the Minnesota Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club.
http://www.vjmc-mn.com/
They meet once a month at a local coffee shop and orgranize rides and other events.  Be a good way to meet people who want to do the same thing.

Yes, great club.  I enjoy riding up there and checking out there stuff.  The only thing I'm not that big a fan of is they don't ride every time they meet.  They do plan quite a few big rides but it's more of a gathering of club members.  I'm more a fan of meeting up hanging out for bit and off on a great ride.  No nock on the club, it's great and I try to make it to the cities @ least once a year to hang out.
