Shouldn't you be thinking about Jesus dying for our sins or something today?

Uh, Amish can drive cars and stuff too. They go to Walmart. My Amish aunt and uncle drove my cousins to see us in FL from PA (in a car) when I was a kid. They loved the beach. Full beard, red shirt, black pants, suspenders, boots out in the sand... I love memories like that. Mennonite in my family too. Some of them drive cars, some drive horses. It really depends on their particular group and the elders and how progressive they are becoming. No matter what though, Amish don't have churches but Mennonites do.

Kit and I were just talking last night, driving to dinner I see a fully blacked out car with chrome wheels, the teens in it thinking they were sooooo cool. That's a Mennonite car where I'm from. The HD Nightsters are Mennonite bikes where I come from too, though.  :D

I kinda miss washing the road apples off the bottom of my car every weekend. No one rides or drives horses on the road here.  :(

So, ya gonna totally black out that bike, HT?  ::)

Ultimately it depends on the church. Some are very progressive some aren't. I think around here they are very strict!!

Not too sure about doing a lot to the bike. I was looking for a reliable daily rider (was supposed to be my now blown XS850) and then this fell in my lap.

So I think with FI and close to 60mpg I'll not be doing very much.

Maybe I'll convert it to a more Nightster-ish look with drag bars and that clipped fender. Who knows... I might go all out and get a springer front end and sprung saddle.

But black? oh yes as much as possible.... and flat.... flat flat flat black.

Go ride a springer, then make your decision to do that. It's not that soft and many think it doesn't handle as well. It's cool looking though. :D

I worked around some mennonite guys, they did concrete work. they were very happy they found a pop machine with orange and grape because they couldn't have cola. The 14 year old twins about fainted when I cracked open a pepsi.  You'd have thought I was drinking Jack Daniels.

Stock Springer bikes seem to have less rake, but may be same as a Sporty... they have very little stiction, and in the modern redesign, they changed very little on it..

I dare any bike manufacturer, to bring  back on the OEM market, a fork design that was discontinued before 1950, change it less than 20 %, and offer it oon an OEM bike...

I was kidding man I actually like springers on choppers.  It was more a comment on HD's... I'll put it this way my cousins carb on his 89 sportster 883 cost him more than I paid for my 750 and my bike is faster and handles better than his.  ;D

HD does not make FAST bikes per se.....They make AMERICAN MADE bikes that cost a lot and make lots of noise and people think are the coolest thing since sliced bread. I would put my 74 CB750K4 up against almost any one of them and either walk all over them or even run with them....a 36 year old bike no less!...But if I wanted to shame them.... I would run my 14 year old Magna and leave them totally in the dust....and I don't just mean running the quarter....but even a nice set of twisties....I will admit that the current sportsters are a hell of a lot better than the 71 I had. P O S by AMF and just worthless, but the one HT just got, is very nice and I would probably keep it too.

Well this HD has no guts by any means.... except for 60ft times.

Rockford officials are all crooks. They figure by bribing me I wouldn't sue the broke city.

Little did they know I hadn't planned on suing anyway.  ;)
