Topic: CB 750 Belt Rear Drive.

Hi Guys.

Has anyone here thought of, designed, successfully used etc a rear belt drive?

Has a lot going for it, IMHO, so am keen to hear responses.

i think there was a guy who adapted a 650 kawi??? belt drive to the 750sohc... but it didnt look easy... and belts are kinda lame on our bikes... not enough room really and choices of sprockets will be a problem for gearing...

I love my belt on my buell and for a non track or speedster bike I would say go for it. There is no maintenance and I like that. I dont know about other bikes but on the buell to tighten the belt they use the rear axle which is kinda odd but I guess it works. Mainly on my bike you jack it up, loosen the rear axel 15 turns and with the design of the axle at that point you get about an inch of play in the belt that allows you to remove it.

I have put a lot of thought into it.

 If you are willing to cut and weld a bit on your case, it is MUCH easier.

 My sprocket of choice was to be 440 Kaw, I did get outline of one but not all the measurements.

 I think from my work it looked like the sprocket would have to be multipiece to get it on the bike.

 Buell narrow belt may be a very good choice, but may require custom built front sprocket.

Last I knew the KZ440 was NLA?

What about a 650 Savage setup? I think the stock parts are still available for those.
