stranded need help!
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:22:37 am »
I was out riding today when I pulled over. I accidently turned the key to the right and put on the P brake light. After turning her back to the off postion and removing the key i noticed the P brake light was still on. I have tried several times to move it to the ON position but to no avail, it just feels loose and I cant start her. Please any suggestions would help greatly.

If your Honda ignition is like the ones I've seen (on my 500/550's) the plastic box on the bottom can be removed and serviced.  That's where the electrical connections are being made.

You can always hotwire the bike, bypassing the keyed ignition.  Sounds like your switch might be shot.  If you want to keep your ignition key matched to your seat lock (if you have one) then you'll want to swap the contact mechanism off another good ignition onto yours.

What bike?

If it's a 750 K0-K6 with the key under the tank, unplug the 4-prong ignition connector and connect Red to Black, and Brown/White to Orange.

That will get you home.

I think the color codes are the same on a lot of Honda models.

750F has the key on the triple tree yes?  Still has the same four wires with the above mentioned color codes.  Follow wiring from switch until you find the first modular connector, disconnect it.  On the older round connectors, you'd connect the four pins using an X pattern, connecting each hole to it's diagonal opposite.  Not sure of the arrangement of the modular plugs on later models or F models.

Red to Black at the key switch connetion gets your ignition going.  Connect the other two wires to get your taillight and running lights.

best of luck

Nevermind luckily the PO had fuses not bolts in the fuse box.
