Questions about random parts and rebuild prep - 73' cb500
« on: July 27, 2017, 11:34:19 AM »
Im constantly checking out and buying parts on 4into1 and I'm wanting to know some of your experiences.

Im looking at wheel bearings, I know all balls brand is the way to go but the wheel bearings 4into1 offers are a little cheaper and have zero reviews - has anyone used the no brand or 4into1 brand bearings? What is your experience?

Axle adjusters, I've seen the joker brand and I want to know if there is something better or another brand that has won you over.

Chain - I don't know about you guys but adjusting my chain is constant, having to cut links out is constant. Would adding a chain tensioner in the mix help with anything? is it possible to put a tensioner on a stock cb500 set up?

It looks like i have some leaks going on, the lower case of the motor under the carbs always has residue, dirt grime, moist looking gunk there, it is dirty around the cam tensioner nut, there is fluid sitting on the fins, and i have a bad oil leak from the pump, Im ordering new o rings but I'm going to try to swap out the pump with another until the end of the season to see if that works. The dirt and grime has always kind of been there but the worsening of the oil leak and the fluid on the fins is new, it probably has to deal with the fact that ive take this bike across Michigan to Chicago twice this summer and use it as my everyday. It probably hasn't seen use like this ever considering the PO never took it above 70mph.

the oil leak on the ground is after some freeway riding and the bike sitting for about 2 hours.
