69's will pull 125 MPH if rider tucks in, has early pipes, cam, airbox, gearing and jetting which are all de-tuned on later models.

Except the F models, I think.  I recall the F0s and F1s got a shot of power back in them, bringing them up to original '69 speed and power levels and the F2s were even faster, (but more fragile).

That said, I still want a '69, but a early diecast so I can ride it and not feel guilty and still have the power and fury of the "original".

the redline is more of a "guidline" it can rev much higher than that....

overrevving is easy to diagnose.... your engine will fit neatly into a 5 gallon bucket...

funny how those who have never ridden one degrade the k8! it will hit its red and quite quickly too. I can do over 70 in 3rd gear. only takes a few seconds to get there too

I've got a '76 F and it pulls STRONG all the way to (and past) the redline.  It "feels" WAAAAY stronger than the K4 I rode when I was looking.

I still like the K0 styling the best of all the 750s.

Damn Eldar, I hope you can do 30mph over 70 in 3rd with that 75/76 750F motor! That is unless the pump carbs are holding you back!? Or maybe I just like the way my 75 750F sounds in the red zone and have too many stupid moments. Oh well, I've only blown it up once........... And by the way, I won't degrade a K8. I know your/our engine will take most K's!

no I try not to hit red too much as I have a poorly stocked garage to work in and really dont feel like having to do engine work any sooner than needed! Besides, 70 in town will get a good enough ticket! Not sure how much I could really get. Still running points and while the timing is on good, I have never actually fine tuned the idle mix and it is richer than it should be. but that should be remedied this spring!

My redline is at least 1000 under the one on the Tach. Why carp up the motor. I get up to speed as fast as I need to. K owners never need to show off.

A stock 750 at 12k will put valves on pistons.  Ask me how I know.  Come on, I dare ya.   (missed shifts, false neutrals, riding a bike with a reversed shift pattern the day before then going from 8500-9000 in second to first instead of third )  It's never massively destroyed anything, but it WILL loosen up the jam nut on the valve adjusters and cause it to come off!!

The start of the "redline" range of a Honda tach, 8500 in the tach pictured, is the maximum continuous (cruising) RPM. The end of the range, 9300, is the actual "redline". In other words, Honda felt confident enough in their design to declare that they would stand behind their product even if pushed occasionally to the redline. The fact is, due to missed shifts, etc, that these motors do not spontaneously explode at significantly higher RPMs, a testament to the original design. Honda was being conservative!!

I can not attest to the top speed of a 750 K but I owned a 1978 750K new and can say that I red lined it in the first three gears and when I hit the red line in third gear it was sayin 110 on the speedo. With a 90 degree turn coming up fast that was the end of my test. I never did find out the top speed. Don't care.
