The start of the "redline" range of a Honda tach, 8500 in the tach pictured, is the maximum continuous (cruising) RPM. The end of the range, 9300, is the actual "redline". In other words, Honda felt confident enough in their design to declare that they would stand behind their product even if pushed occasionally to the redline. The fact is, due to missed shifts, etc, that these motors do not spontaneously explode at significantly higher RPMs, a testament to the original design. Honda was being conservative!!
