NOBORU Gaskets
« on: January 21, 2006, 06:09:34 AM »
Does anyone have any experience with NOBORU gaskets for the CB750 motor?   I got burnt last year with Athena gaskets - all of the side covers leaked - and I'd like to avoid that experience again.  I'll make my own if I can't find a good set.

The time you'll burn making your own would make paying Honda for an original more attractive.

I've made my own in the past but, there's a shop in town that advertises that they have a

equipment to offer a gasket making service. I haven't checked it out yet. Has anyone ever heard

of this before and had any experience with it? I don't know if they just make cover gaskets only,

or if they can make head gaskets too. I do intend to check this out, could be the way to go.

Something I'll offer as advice: Think of it like this. You'll never go wrong with genuine Honda parrts. (seals or gaskets) They were designed for your bike. Use them, and forget it. Your oil leak issues will be eliminated once they are properly installed, and you'll be glad you chose them. They cost a little more, but it's worth it. Speaking from experience. Good luck..jim

Used Noboru for years with never a problem Just remember that all gasket surfaces need to be "mirror finish" clean  with only grease (clean) on paper gaskets with nothing on the head and NEW rubber pucks under the cam towers and a NEW tacho drive seal whilst the cover is off
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

There is a repair shop here in town that has a gasket machine. I have had a couple made for my Bultaco's. No problem with them. I thought it was a bit pricey. Found I could get some nos for just about the same price.
