Looks super clean. Are you building this for a specific class? It looks like there is a ton of material that can be removed on one of those. I need to start searching around to see what people have done to 350 twins, I really have not looked into it.

Looks good Mark. That Rieck guy is pretty good!  ;)

Any piston choices to show us yet?

Bill, going with some wiseco xr250 pistons (takes it to 354 cc, slight bump in CR) on Jons bike, and sticking with stock for the time being on mine.

When I can afford the whole package, I'll be going with the Henning 362 pistons, the HD engine bolts, and the crazy cam. Kinda gotta do all of those at the same time, and I just don't have the extra $1500+ right now. I've concentrated on the head and crank for initial work, so that I have a good, strong base to work off of for future upgrades.
I mean,  I guess I could do the $1500, but that would mean (major) skimping on suspension, etc.

Oh, and Maasey, lots has been done with the 350. Todd Hennings sons is apparently a 50rwhp monster, from 362cc's.

50rwhp. Damn.

Sorry, the head.
You certainly can mill the head more....probably .040 more or so. Mark is at the development level so I only cleaned it up (.010). Milling a lot off would eliminate that wedge squish area and you'd have to run pistons that match the new chamber shape and incorporate a conventional squish (flat area on the piston crown perimeter). That would actually be a nice set up as the chamber would get smaller and more efficient but custom pistons would have to be made. At this point zero deck height should be the target for baseline and then piston/chamber development.
I'm not sure about cam chain slack after milling large amounts of material. The 350 isn't my area of expertise from a mechanical stand point. i assume the tensioner system can deal with the difference. I'm very confident this engine can be built to make outstanding HP. I"m very good friends with several of the people directly involved with developing Todd's engines when he started racing so I have some real resources. ;)

i need to take those pictures someplace and be alone with them for a little while  :D   seriously though, sweet looking headwork! wish i had the wherewithal to send a head off to Mike so he could work his magic on it.

Good luck with your project mlinder. First spending money to make it handle & stop well is sensible.

I tossed around the idea of building one of these twins, then opted for the 550. In reality there are so many of these racing and every race organization has a spot for them it is probably the better choice, especially seeing there is no shortage of info and go-fast parts available.
