CB550 basket case (electronic ignition help needed)
« on: April 04, 2010, 01:28:49 PM »
Just got back from PA.  Paid a visit to a salvage yard guy I know.  He sold me a titled CB550 rolling frame with a locked up motor and another one with a free motor.  Found that one of them had an electronic ignition on it.  I stuffed both into my '93 Dodge van and hauled them all the way to Florida.  The rims are filthy but don't appear to be rusted really bad so I think I can save them.  Long way to go...

*edit*  If anyone can clue me in on that ignition, I'd appreciate it.  I can't seem to find anything on it.

Thats looks like a voltage regulator off an old Ford. Thats about all I can tell you about it, it works the same though!

That last picture is a voltage regulator, not an ignition module. Someone did some innovative substitution  ;D, but it will work.

follow the wires from that box,,do any end up on the coils or the other end,,in the points area,,has that motor got points or a pick up type assembly?do they trace back to the stator?,,yellow wires might be stator outputs?
