show me the green!
« on: April 02, 2010, 01:00:20 PM »
I gonna paint my spare tank & side covers.
I'm thinking some kind of green.
Of course there are a bazillion shades of green so which to choose?!

So I'd appreciate pics of green Hondas - doesn't necessarily have to be an OEM color.
What have you got?

Valspar green opal metallic (Toyota 6P4) base/clear urethane...  It came from some early/mid 70's Toyota.

Duplicolor Anodized Green.  Requires a primer, then silver under coat, then color.  This pic is before clearcoat, which I have yet to do  ;D

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

here's my 74 cb550 it's a custom mix it started out as british racing green. one thing about a green bike i have discovered is chicks dig them. i thought hmm?? green m&m's will make girls giddy and so do motorcycles if i combine the two. :)
I've done a lot of things in my life that I'm not proud of...and the things I AM proud of, "are disgusting"

Anyone care to speculate why some superstitious meat-heads claim green is bad "luck" on a bike?  I personally think superstitions are juvenile, and partly used green on my bike for that reason; although I primarily just like the color...

I've heard the superstition too.  Doesn't seem to slow down British Racing or the Irish.  I too like green, tho the lime green used on many a sport bike is a bit over the top.

There's no validity to superstition (knock on wood)!!

EDIT:

I found this on the Internet, so it MUST be true!

"...Economaki is editor emeritus of National Speed Sport News, a popular weekly racing publication that has been in existence for 68 years. Economaki explained that in the 1930s and up until the end of World War II, no driver would drive a green car. 'It was a pronounced no-no in American racing,' said Economaki.

But how did this come about? 'We researched this extensively, and the only thing we could find out was that the first speedway fatality was one of the Chevrolet brothers in California who was killed in a green car. And it was the first accident that killed two drivers. Two drivers had never been killed in a racing accident before. ... That led to the superstition that green cars are bad luck.

I always though it was because:

British racing green = British bikes/cars = bad electrical/never start/leak

my 85' mustang notchback car was painted Kawi green, lord knows you couldnt miss me. that paint got to be a handicap though because everyone knew not to race against the bright green, stock looking notchback mustang  :D
