So getting one of those 40 tooth rear sprockets just doesn't sound practical if you plan on some highway miles?
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

40 is great for the highway (I run 42). Not as good in town but I'm not a stop light racer either.The stock 48 tooth will put you at a higher rpm on the freeway than a numerically lower numbered sprocket.
