Low serial numbers. Any big deal?
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:11:21 PM »
One of the 550s I picked has a serial number within the first 500 or so made from what I can tell.  Since I read that thread about putting x's in the VINs, I'm paranoid about putting the whole VIN here.  It's a 550f with a build date of 11/74, like said one of the first 500 (give or take) off the assembly line.  Naturally it's the one that didn't come with the title of the two I got.  Is that reason enough for me to keep the frame and engine together and go through the trouble of titling it?

Well I would. I try and title everything I find as if nothing else it makes the stuff more valuable to sell either as parts or as a whole rider. If I had an early example I would be tempted to keep it together.

If it starts with a 1 and is less than 500 at the end it has to be first day of production and may be of special interest if you can get it back to original as sold condition
