Topic: Turns signal glitch.

Hello. I have a 1976 cb550 with a turn signal glitch. On start up the front right signal will turn on as a running light but the left will not (rear signals are not use as running lights). If I switch the right signal to on position the front right will turn off/ will not blink. and the rear right stays off/ will not blink. If I switch the left signal to the on postion both front and rear remain dark (the front right running light stays on like usual). This occurs %80 of the time while the other %20 everything works correctly and things will work/ not work while on the same ride. Any help or links to threads would be helpful and appreciated (I tend to over think search enigines and never get results). Also, being quite new to this, feel free to speak to me like a little kid.

Faulty or intermittent ground.  Set aside an afternoon, get some small wire brushes and strips of sand paper.  Maybe some contact cleaner and dielectric grease.  Kill a six-pack cleaning up all the electrical connectors on your bike, packing them with the grease to keep 'em clean.  Chances are you will correct this problem and others you don't even know about yet.

Anywhere that a green wire (ground) connects to frame.  Next would be the headlight bucket as that's the main area where wire harnesses come together.  The electrical panel under the left side panel is a good place to spend some time.  Then there are minor connection areas like under the seat and tank and next to the battery box.  The handlebar switches are a good place to do some cleaning and repack with dielectric grease.  Take care as there are small parts and springs in there that do what springs like to do!
