cb750 fork swap
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:29:27 PM »
I just picked up my first cb750 (and first bike). Im starting to rebuild it so its nice and safe to ride. Im going for the cafe look and wanted to run dual disk up front. My question is I have a gl500 fork that had dual twin piston calipers and a fork brace, so id think it have more stopping power. Its the air fork so idk what performance of the fork vs the stock 78 cb750 fork. what the plus of the air in the fork? And would my stock speedo work with the gl's speed sender. Im new so dont hate me if this is a bad idea.  ;D

I don't know if the fork swap will work without some machine work......assume you will also switch the triple trees.  The air-assist is of little real value other than helping to prevent the 'dive' effect of hard braking and offers mild assistence to absorb slight bumps.  It should only have about 2-lbs of pressure and will tend to leak at the fork seals.  Be sure to measure the length of the overall set up so you don't lower the bike too much.  You will have to compensate at the rear.
