Will 750 k0-k1 front wheel fit on a 550 k0?
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:19:20 AM »
The front wheel of my 550 resto looks like crap. I have a spare front wheel off an early 750 with the early type speedo drive that looks much cleaner and is less rusty. Will it fit the 550 K0? If so, what if anything must be changed? The 550 fork legs each have the number "341" stamped on the inner sides of the tubes. Thought maybe someone could tell me if that means they are 750 fork legs? Any issues due to different disc brakes between models?
As always, TIA. jim

The front hubs are the same and the #341 legs are 750. I can't remember, but don't think there is any difference between speedo drives. Just bolt up the 550 disc to the 750 hub and try the speedo drive you have.

Thanks for the feedback. It does indeed fit. And to my suprise, I discovered that when the larger 750 rotor is left in place, all you need is a 750 caliper/bracket assy. to go with it for an "upgrade".
Since the 750 setup is bigger than the 550, seems like a nice alternative to dual discs. ;D ;D
