Looks cool. How expensive was the powder coating of the frame?

My buddy knows Robby Gordon's powder coater. They do amazing work. The frame was $200...I plan on doing the swingarm black along with some other parts. The frame looks amazing in real life. I am very happy with it...

work slowed down on my bike due to some work trips...but parts have arrived and there's still a bunch more cleaning to get down...I think I am just going to bite the bullet and buy the internal engine components I need to get that engine back together.

Here's what I plan on replacing:
- Rings (what is a decent price for these?)
- Cam Chain
- Cam chain tensioner (I have seen just the rubber ring/roller for sale. Is there any disadvantage to just replacing that? I can't see how there could be?)
- Primary Chains (If I measure them and they are within tolerances should I spend that money? How often to those chains fail?)
- Primary Chain tensioner roller
- gaskets
- Transmission swap with ebay tranny (I panicked when my tranny originally failed and bought 2. I have a 77 and a 78. I think I will go with the 78 was there any difference between the two, performance wise?)

While I've got it all apart, is there anything else you guys would recommend replacing? Thanks for all of your input and help...

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Swing arm cleaned and prepped for a HondaMan rebuild. Note the two different swing arm bolts. A 1974 bolt will be used for the rebuild. More questions to come. I have to get back on track. The build has slowed down way too much.

Powdercoat AFTER rebuild seems logical to me. Is there anyway it should be powdercoated before?

Powder coating wil bake it 450 deg. IIRC.

Might mess up his precision work. Ask HondaMan what he thinks about before or after.

I believe I remember him saying the special bronze he uses for the bushes (oilite?) may weep a little oil if baked like that, but as it cools it sucks it back up.  I don't believe it will dry it out and lose it's lubrication properties.

This is a great thread and I am looking forward to watching and learning as you document putting the engine back together. I am going to be doing the exact same thing pretty soon. My bike is in pieces and the engine is sitting in a corner waiting to be torn apart. I have had a few of my questions answered from this thread, thanks!
