Showed it at the Venice Vintage Motorcycle show. It ran well, I am not used to the LA freeways anymore. It's been awhile (60 miles round trip). I have a small leak from the clutch cover. That one is new to me...it is fairly minor, but it lands on the exhaust and makes it smoke a little. Will investigate. My Speedo and tach work now...so that's a good thing

ah didn't notice it was a 750 and not a 550, don't know my bikes too well yet.

I've been toying with the idea of ditching pods and putting on stock filters and an airbox if I find that the pods give performance issues (I've heard they can in wet or gusty weather) so I like to see interesting side covers.

Yeah, thought it was a 550... still learning. How many of you folks know each other, that you're able to id each other's bikes by sight?

Dustin has a signature style, especially as to his seats and oil tanks.  He's somewhat local.  Very nice guy.  I see him at lots of shows/events.

It never ends...so now I have some sort of leak on the lower right hand side...I think clutch cover but I will have to do some more investigating...also I need to either just sell it and get a more modern bike or get cartridge-emulations and new front springs...because it feels gross turning at speed

Cartridges will help. But nothing will ever make a 40 year old bike feel or behave like a modern bike. Steel technology, frame geometry, suspension technology, tire compound and profiles, shocks, etc all contribute to modern behavior. You’ll do well to upgrade yours, then love it for what it is and enjoy the heck out of it. Maybe get another, newer bike to satisfy your needs and keep this one to satisfy your soul

What air pressure you run? Try pumping it up to 38-40 and see how that feels.

Clutch side drips...I also have not enough to actually drip over on the left side of the head...HOW? I think I am almost ready to give up and sell this thing.

Like it fully works and I know old bikes leak...but maybe it is time

That's a good point...I will replace and check the clutch cover at the next oil change...the lesser drips might just be carb overflow (maybe if I am lucky). But the clutch one goes right onto my exhaust pipes and smokes

The Head weeping is what really is pissing me off...I have them resurfaced. NOS OEM Honda Head gasket. Pucks sealed exactly as the HondaMan book says...its far less of a leak/weap then my first 2 tries, but WTF....

Ok just remember, clean steel wool to clean the pipes.  Use with water or soapy water. Rinse with water.
 Best not done on a nice driveway as could leave rust specs, lawn or pavement ok.
 Brillo or other scouring pad, will dull down your chrome..big ouch.

Did you use the HD studs. These can accept much higher torque values.  I may have an extra set of studs if you're crazy enough to go there!

Do they really not effect the stiffness of the frame? I don't see how they couldn't...cutting the top tubes seems pretty scary to me...especially when the bike is already so bumpy on the freeway

I did not use HD studs. But I think at this point I really could take the engine out, disassemble and reassemble in 2 weekends

I am seriously considering just selling it and getting the RC...I never thought I would even consider selling it...but I can totally see it now

You only cut the bottom two, and the plates on either side that connect them to the top tube.  The original kit welds / bolts in, the later version uses multi bolted clamps.  It's a great looking bike, stick with it....and be thankful it isn't British. ::) ;D ;D ;D

Oh I see...I always imagined all the tubes getting cut...that makes far more sense

I will have to think about it. I am tired of putting this much money and effort into this bike right now
