Hello mate.

Pop over to www.sohc.co.uk and check out the UK Chapter. Quite a few SOHC-ers in London (I'm not far)

Ah o.k I'll do that, I am new to the sohc 4's so I am needing to find out where the good advice is etc.

Ha ha it's rather disconcerting how everyone is focusing on the roughness of it. I was hoping it wasnt too bad  :'(
It's just been sitting for a while tho. lots of surface rust like. :)

That looks like a lot of work...

Mind you, you could have paid upwards of £3k for a shiny one...

At least this way you will end up with an intimate knowledge of how it all works and goes together - and you will have like-minded folk to go riding with!

BTW: You didn't say whether you had restored bikes before (?), but rule one is take loads of photos! It could be months before you put that bit back together, during which time you will have completely forgotten where it goes!

Iv'e bought several bikes back from extinction, Not neccesarily restorations but just mking wrecks roadworthy again.
I did the bsa. It was trashed when I got it, It needed a complete strip down, new big end and mains etc.

I dont think I can afford to restore this one, I hoped to get it running and ride it as it is for now. then see what happens later

Good luck horror and welcome to the forums.  I admire the way you UK lads hang in there, with the weather beating down your bikes and all.  Not to mention the levys put on your bikes before you even buy them!!  I can't believe how much they want for Blades over there  ::).  I can't imagine how much a new VFR1200F is.
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!
