A bike for $1, now what to do?

This was parked for 12 years in a carport and I got it for $1, now what to do with it?

Actually that's a great starting point for any type of project. A resto will cost you the biggest cash outlay, but a rat rod will be easy on the pocketbook. Depends how how much you're will to spend and what you want to wind up with.

Hey, I've bought less of a bike for more money and I'm sure quite a few others have done the same.

It's really up to what sub-project of the multitude of projects you want to do first. Carb's seem to be a tough project for some, ya might want to have a peek at them. I'm sure they are a mess (full of varnished fuel). But of course, get a haynes book. When you get to the brakes dont panic if the caliper piston is junk.
Have a machinest make one out of billett, get a price from Honda first so you have a base line on how much to spend yadda yadda yadda, and Have Fun.

Quadruple your profit over here!  Seriously, give it a bath and a thorough going through and just ride it.  The mood will hit you on what to do when it's right.

Thanks! it's like a blank canvas to a painter I guess. I "restored" my '71 to it's former glory now I can play with one or two and see where it takes me. Solo, custom, chopper, mild to wild racer - whatever.
Cheers,
Cliff.

Nice find magpie. I paid a lot more $ for my 550, it was in better shape than that, but not a lot better.
