72 Honda 350 cl No Power
« on: April 06, 2010, 07:33:27 AM »
Hey everyone,

I hope this is the right forum to post to. I am new and don't wanna ruffle feathers already:)

Anyway, I have a 1972 Honda 350cl and just finished putting in a new battery and cleaning out the collaborators and trying to get her back up into running shape. The bike seems to idle fine but when I am riding, I get no power (thrust). when I turn the throttle and the rpm's rev up but it still just puttering along. There just isn't any umph!

There seems to be some gas leakage which makes me think it's an air screw issue but I don't know the correct placement for those. Could it be something else that I am missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rob

Hi Rob -

You made a bit of a wrong turn here - there is a forum for "Other Bikes" which would be more appropriate. This one is for SOHC/4s - to wit; Single Overhead Cam Four Cylinder machines.

That said, it certainly sounds as if your clutch is slipping:

Try to find a manual and make the adjustments.

I always liked the CLs - probably because my first big bike was a BSA Firebird Scrambler - another one which looked the part but didn't have a hope in the dirt ::)
