New Head Gasket. I don't know who to be Mad at
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:20:49 PM »
Well I got my new head gasket from Cycle-x in the mail today and as you can see, I don't think I will be using it. I don't know if I should be Pissed at Kevin and the guys for shipping it that way, in that flimsy box or UPS for folding it in half. Not happy to say the least....

Reminds me of my own head gasket fiasco on my 175.  Those solid rings on the outside of the cylinder bores were a hair too small causing the piston to contact one of them near TDC.  Took me the better part of two weeks to figure that one out.

ups is the one to blame here. i have never had gasket kits come in anything but flat packages and i've never had a problem when sent by usps. the gorillas they must use in the UPS warehouses must take classes in the different ways to mutilate packages though. all the damaged goods i've ever recieved have come by UPS.

It's UPS's fault, but it's the shippers problem.  I'd call Kevin... my experience with them makes me suspect you'll get taken care of.
