What sort of ignition system are you running on your sohc4?

I am in the process of reading up on the various options available for the sohc4 ignition and am curious what is actually out there and actively being run.

I have allowed up to five votes for those lucky souls who own multiple bikes.

Think I'm gonna keep the points for awhile; I figure they've done okay for 30 years, why get rid of 'em now?

Electronic Ignition is a great labor saving device (no more replacing points, condensors, timing and dwell) and you get better performance.

Mike Nixon is pretty opinionated on his website about keeping points.

One of the old mechanics down in ABQ talked me out of electronic ignition. Have had my Honda about two months.  Changed out the old points, set the timing.  Didn't seem to difficult, and from what I understand I shouldn't have to do it often at all.  For my daily commute (about 600 miles/week) and such, the original seems to work fine.  Of course, I don't go drag-racing the motorcycle cops coming into town...  :)

I feel the same way about the good 'ol outhouse.  Works great, what do you need a flush toilet for?  Just adds to your water bill.  Speaking of which, what do you need running water for?  Nuthin wrong with hiking out to the well and hoisting a bucket.  Works great.  Don't have to worry about a feed line to the washing machine popping and flooding the house.  Speaking of which, what do you need a washing machine for when there are perfectly good flat rocks down by the river?

Cheapskate that I am I have been mulling this over for a while. I may spring for a Dyna. If you think about it, if Honda had a good reliable electronic unit at the time they would have used it. I feel I would be evolving my bike by doing this. I will put the points in a box for safe keeping.

It comes from being raised by people who grew up during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Yes folks we Americans were very poor once upon a time. If they keep going the way they are going, we can get there again. While I still have a few bucks I may spring for a Dyna.

I ditched the points on an old V8 ford, never looked back and welcomed no more fiddling with points.  Can't say if performance improved, as it was a pile of dog doo and the changout just helped to eliminate one problem.
