as alot of you guitarists know that once in a while, if youre really lucky, there is that one guitar, it might not be the hiighest dollar one or the prettiest one but the way it plays/feels in your hands maybe, but theres just an extra special guitar that, if youre thinking of selling or trading it for whatever reason (model of guitar that you have dreams about) but it's almost like finding homes for the 6 kittens the stray you adopted had. you want to be very sure theyre going to the best of homes where they'll be loved and cared for as much as you did. well as many of you folks know that i have spoken to about my Danelectro Hodad (mosrite look alike) and how much i cherished this guitar. well a gent i have been hanging out with, Jamming from time to time and doing some maintenance on his atv's has been after me for probably 2 years now to sell him or trade him the Hodad and there has never been a guitar or monetary offer suitable. well this afternoon, he got me. he had just gotten this past week, an Epiphone WildKat in the transparent black with a beautiful figured maple top and Bigsby tremolo. i fell in love with this guitar but i still wasnt ok with letting the Dano go, until he mentioned it was for his son and when the son (parapalegic after a bad car wreck) had lost his Hodad when he had to sell stuff to make rent back before he was hurt. well this young man wheeled into the studio this afternoon and saw the guitar and i handed it to him and when i saw the look on his face i knew that my "baby" would go to a good home and finally, after being offered a hardshell case for the WildKat as well, i let it go. this really was like making sure a pet i rescued was getting a good home. that Hodad will always have a special place in my memory and maybe one day i'll get another.
