« on: April 07, 2010, 06:25:27 PM »
after going to a few reputable places here in sf, and not being pleased with charlies place...but thats another thread i ended up at the bike yard, where bikes go to die,or to be hooked up to life support and sold for a ungodly price? any way i brought my tank and a peice of the fuel line to make sure it matched, and asked if they had a petcock, specificaly no. but they had a drawer full of petcocks for me to dig through. wopo hoo i f'n found one that fit. now since i need a screen, and a rebuild kit since its off any way... but cant buy a kit till i know what it from... anyone recognize it? fits a 76 550 tank for sure (3/4" bung)... oh its a keihin.
Thanks
D

It looks like it will fit fine on the 75-76 CB550s.

There is supposed to be a "sock" filter (fine plastic mesh), that goes over the stand pipe and larger diameter plastic tube.  (It is easily damaged with "ham hands".)
That "sock" is an "in tank" filter, that is self clearing and needs no maintenance.  If you go with inline filters instead, you then have to replace it periodically and add it to a routine maintenance schedule. You also have to figure out how to run the fuel lines to the carbs so the lines will drain with gravity.
