« on: April 08, 2010, 11:49:24 AM »
I found a couple of posts saying they were going to try it but couldn't find posted results.
Looks lie only conversion is partsnmore for 15-41 teeth ? Any other sources?
Any success or failure stories?

Thanks

On my 77-78 750F's I just buy the 17/48 sprockets intended for 530 K chains and install them with no mods. No problems for 8 years so far. Ratio is around 2.86 if memory serves
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Bingo.... then you can use all kinds of gear ratios to get what you want.

Converted my 78K to 530.... then realized the old 630 chain had snapped a giant hole in the back of my case...

That was 12 years ago.... it's still in boxes.  :D

I thought the 630's had a hole in the middle for a big bolt and the early K's had two bolt holes with the twist lock thingy? Same center opening? (splines)
I had read on one of Hondamans recent posts that there are some issues with this conversion????
I'll take a look and see when I get home.

Thanks for your help.

I got my 630-to-530 conversion sprocket set and chain from HavocTurbo.

I went to 18/45 to keep highway revs down. The installation was straightforward, nothing difficult at all. I got 47mpg on a recent trip to Kansas City (200 miles each way).

My swap was a 17/47 I think and it was a bolt on and go. Nothing special. Chain length ended up being something like 106 or 108 links I think.

The 530 front sprocket is just a hair wider than the output shaft on my '78 F. When installed there is a small gap that I fill with a washer behind the single mounting bolt. That's it. I've read about people having "mods" done to fit a 530, and I'm uncertain why they "have" to and I don't. My chain runs straight and true :-\

I did it on my 750f. 78. No spacer needed for me. Since I dont load up and hit the interstate I would go 17/48 next time.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
